A Sneak Peek at General

Hollywood actor Goran Visnjic, best known to the audience for his role as Dr. Luka Kovac from the popular television series ER, will play the lead role in the upcoming feature film General, which will deal with the life of the Croatian general Ante Gotovina. The Croatian Hollywood actor will play the lead role. The film director, Antun Vrdoljak, said that Visnjic is the best choice for the role of Gotovina because he is perfectly informed about the general’s life, and has talked with him on several occasions, one of which was at the Hague trial.

Gotovina, who is now a retired military general, was an important figure during the Croatian War of Independence. After that he was accused of war crimes at the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia in The Hague, after he was arrested in 2005. In addition to the film, which is set for release next year, HRT, the Croatian state broadcaster will also shoot an eight-episode television series on the same topic. The filming crew started shooting in Croatia on 20 February 2017, and it is expected to wrap on 20 July 2017. They have already shoot half of the scenes at several locations in the Croatia region. For this purpose, they hired somewhere around 1,000 extras.

Ever since they started shooting the much-anticipated film about the life of the retired Croatian General Ante Gotovina, Goran Visnjic has been updating his fans from the shooting locations via his on Instagram profile. A few days ago, the actor posted some non-edited, color corrected video material from the filming. Namely, he released a small video clip from the movie "General" in which he plays General Ante Gotovina. So far the filming has taken place in the Lika and Zadars’ County on the Dalmatian coast, as well as in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As previously mentioned, approximately 1,000 extras were involved in the filming, taking place at least on 10 different locations around Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The film is directed by Antun Vrdoljak and also stars renewed actors like Boris Svrtan, Tarik Filipovic, Rene Bitorajac, Goran Navojec and Natasa Janjić. It is expected to be released next year.
